Item #C-VPT Vintage White Porcelain Thimble. A
pink rose with green leaves pictured on the thimble is a
fired decal, (this is not a hand painted design). I am a
certified ceramicist teacher and have been for 22 years and have worked with fired decals on porcelain for years.
There
is an obvious difference between hand-painted designs and
fired decals. Only the gold trim around the bottom of the
thimble has been hand painted in 22k fired gold on clear
glaze. Thimble has a nice glossy sheen and measures 1 inch
tall x 2 1/2 inches circumference x 14/16th's diameter. Made
of porcelain and has the bumpy textured top that keeps your
needle from slipping while being used. The gold trim shows a
small, faint spot of wear, otherwise it is in pristine
condition and would be a wonderful addition to your
collection of vintage thimbles.
