"Rainbow Bridge In Paradise"

My precious little pet has passed away,
no more to breathe a sound.
I held her for the last time,
then entombed her in the ground.
Day and night I wept, in tears I thought I'd drown.
I searched my soul for comfort,
but no peace was found.
In great despair, I kneeled and began to pray.
"Father will I ever see my precious pet again someday?"

I raised my eyes and saw an angel standing near a gate.
I sensed an inner peace I'd never felt before that day.
The angel smiled and said to me, "Oh ye of little faith!
God sees every bird that falls; He knows your little one's fate.

I met your little pet as she passed my way.
Your pet is alive; she walked through this gate.

The angel said to me,
Paradise is lovelier than you can comprehend,
with no pain, no grief, no tears,
no sorrow, no fears, and life will have no end.

The angel took my hand and said,
"Now come with me my friend,
a glimpse of paradise you will see".
Through the gate and over Rainbow Bridge
 we did proceed,
Through green valleys filled with flowers,
rolling hills and trees.
“And It Was Paradise!”

The place was filled with joy
I saw my precious pet playing there,
with dogs and cats and toys.
They had some treats to eat, and food that they enjoyed.
They had made lots of new friends there,
including girls and boys.

Then I saw a child come near,
and hug my precious little one so dear,
She said, "I love you so,"
and gently kissed her on the face.
The angel said,
"The child just crossed Rainbow Bridge today,
She needs a little friend to love,
and together they will play.
God’s love for her would be enough,
in that make no mistake,
But in His love, He knew full well, the child would want a mate
and called your precious pet unto this splendid place.
God has entrusted this child with your beloved pet,
'til you shall pass through the gate."

The angel took my hand and sweetly said,
"It is time for you to go.”
She led me back across the Bridge
and through the gate to home.
She left me there with new-found hope
 and peace within my soul.

When someone asks
What happens to pets that die?
I give a gentle smile of joy and look them in the eye,
then take their hand and comfort them
and tell them not to cry.
For our precious beloved pets don’t die,
they simply cross Rainbow Bridge
into Paradise.

Cocker Spaniel Mix
February 1983 - July 2001

Buckwheat was a wonderful gift arriving unexpectedly one morning at my door, lost and hungry. After trying to find her owners without success, she became my fur baby. I fell in love with this precious little puppy, she was my friend, my confidant, my protector and  loyal companion for many years. I will miss her always.

Remembering Special Moments

What a wonderful holiday it was.
Buckwheat met Santa and was such a sweet, well behaved little lady.
Santa told her she was on his Good Girl list. Christmas morning she opened her presents; she had lots of toys, treats, and a special little stuffed moose that became her favorite. She loved to tear wrapping paper from her presents and when she had opened the last of her gifts, she would then help herself to mine. She would play for hours with her new toys. Buckwheat was very smart and learned things quickly, When she was younger, I taught her to pick up all of her toys that she had been playing with and place them back in her toy box before bed time. Each night there after she would put her toys away before going to bed.

She was such a joy in my life.

In Memory of Cocoa
Beloved Chihuahua
1991 - 2006

Cocoa became a part of our family the moment my parents brought her home. She was such a tiny little thing, she would fit in the palm of your hand. She was playful and full of energy, but as she became older she developed arthritis and was not able to play as much. She would just cuddle in her blanket and take naps. Cocoa was a wonderful little watch dog, she loved family and friends to visit but did not want them to leave, she would bark and run around in circles when they headed toward the door. Cocoa passed away in her sleep January 2006, she was 13 years old.  Little Cocoa led a full, active life filled with lots of love. Our pets become  part of our family and when they are gone, they leave a certain emptiness in our heart that only they could fill  but the memories remain of their unconditional love and the joy that filled our hearts.

The photo of our three dogs together on the left were our beloved pets, all named Sir Walter O'Murphy. Sir Walter O'Murphy Senior passed away in 1991. Our second little Westie, Sir Walter O'Murphy,II passed away in 2003. We then added the third Westie to our family, an of course his name was Sir Walter O'Murphy. Each of our Westie's had a different personality, but all three were so loving and sweet and captured our hearts immediately. We will always miss them and remember the rich blessings they brought into our lives with such joy and devotion.

In Memory of Darla
Our Beloved Gordon Setter

Our wonderful little Gordon Setter, Darla, had too short of a life with us as she was struck by a car Tuesday, June 14th and did not make it to the Vets. I know my tears are part of the healing process but the pain of losing her is just awful. We are missing her terribly, our remaining pets are missing her too especially our big loveable dog, Spike. We have been so fortunate with our animals as our first three cats lived to be 20, 21 and 22 years old! Our first Lab was with us 15 years. When we moved to the country, our second Lab lived 10 years and Butch and Lucky lived 10 and 17 years. We have 7 cats now, the oldest is 17 and we will all miss having Darla as part of our family.

Our Beloved Cat
Dec. 31, 2001 - Dec. 18, 2004

Our little Jellybean joined other beloved pets at Rainbow Bridge, Saturday, December 18, 2004. I placed his favorite mousie in his arms and his ball..he looked like the perfect picture of a sleeping cat, he was at peace and beautiful. I know he's going to a better place, a place where he will remain loved and loving. If Jellybean had not crossed my path 4 years ago that New Year's Eve.. he would have died too soon. He may not have been with us long but we gave him the quality of life that prepared him to give love to someone else, perhaps a little child that was taken way too soon. Jellybean left here just as beautiful as he was. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that this would be happening to my Jellybean this week..

The pain of losing a pet has been felt by many, but to each of us, it feels as though no one else could hurt as much or feel the pain so deeply as the one feeling it at that moment. There have been many pets I have had and loved but Jellybean was that one special pet, we were deeply bonded and had each other for four years. Jellybean was only four weeks old when I got him on that New Year's Eve. I was told then that he would not live long, but he was a lot stronger and maybe a little more stubborn than they gave him credit for because he fooled them all by growing into the most beautiful healthy cat .....until this week.

As soon as he came to live with us, we showered him with love and made him a part of our family, and he made us a part of his, loving us as much as we loved him. Our days are long and our nights are lonesome without him, we see him everywhere, yet he is not here. Only in our hearts do we feel his presence, he has a special place there that belongs to only him. We were very fortunate to have had the opportunity to love and be loved by Jellybean. I miss him and ask why did he have to leave me? I know that he was not mine to hold on to forever, but that he was brought into my life to bring happiness and joy and to love me and he did that every day of his life. Jellybean is at peace and I find comfort in knowing he's on his favorite side of the house, near a bird tree...... and always close by.

Our Beloved Calico Cat

Our little Calico kitty, Skeeter, joined other beloved pets at Rainbow Bridge  Saturday, November 27, 2004.

We have had a lot of wonderful pets & loved them all so much but this little squirt was our baby for 15 wonderful years. Skeeter never grew up - She was only 5 or 6 lbs. her whole life & so like a calico - everything was always on her terms, however we were always so happy to do things her way. Skeeter was such a tiny little thing that she could fit into a 13"x4"deep drawer that is almost full of jewelry supplies, She has slept in every drawer & the top while I am making jewelry or she's on my work bench curled up on top of my materials so I can't get to them without disturbing her.

Skeeter brought such joy and happiness into our lives,
we will miss her always.

In Honor of Artie, My Jack Russell Terrier

In memory of my little JRT Arthur-who joined my other beloved pets at Rainbow Bridge on Thursday, March 25, 2004, after 17 years.
Artie came to live with me when he was 6 weeks old, and never failed to keep us in stitches with his antics. He was bred once at the age of 10 to an English JRT and fathered 8 puppies-four rough coated, and four smooth coated-very rare to have that many puppies and have all survive.
He was never a very vocal JRT, but loved to run and chase the horses, until he found out that jumping on to a tail of a horse was one time too many.
He raced in JRT races, and at an early age, raced at The Washington National Horse Show. He was a true terrier, and loved to travel with me.
We called him Arthur The Travel Pet. He loved his cat friends, horse friends, and doggie friends. Artie also loved to eat Tootsie Rolls, and was so careful to take all the paper off the candy.
No one could meet Artie without loving him. His snoring was legendary as he lay in front of the Aga--his favorite place to sleep.
We were all honored to have him as part of our family.

West Highland White Terrier
July 13, 1992 - June 1, 2003

Murphy was our beautiful little Westie fur-baby, as beautiful in his disposition as he was in his appearance, he was my little fur-baby &quotchild" who never grew up. So sweet and gentle, I loved him so much as I know he did me. Murphy and I spent many hours together at the computer, he would come running when he heard it say You’ve Got Mail, he loved the computer sounds and laid down content at my side while I worked, as soon as he heard the Good Bye sound of signing off, he instantly knew that was all for now.

Murphy has given me and all his family many wonderful memories of our time spent together, as he was not just my pet, but my child, and like children, they each have their own personalities, their own way of doing things, they talk to us in the only way they know how, with their eyes, tail waggles, jumping with joy and communicating in a way that only a fur-baby mom (or dad) would understand, they love us unconditionally and they are always our loyal companions, our confidants when we need a friend, they are a hug when we need one and give us smooches when we hurt, they give us joy and laughter when all is right with the world, they bring us a toy to throw and the joy of watching freedom kicking up their heels with nature.

We wonder sometimes how we're going to survive our loss when our precious fur-babies cross Rainbow Bridge, but as with all God's precious creatures, they somehow give us strength to carry on with our lives, never forgetting the joys they have brought to us, the special little things they did that were cemented in our mind's memory bank for safe keeping to give us the strength and courage to go on without them, for we know they have loved us, and would not want us to grieve too long, but to celebrate their life as they have shared it with us with so much love. Murphy will be missed, yet he will always be with me in my treasured memories and in my heart, where he will remain until we meet again.

With Love To Murphy, God Bless.

Murphy SR.

A New Pet Crosses Rainbow Bridge

"He's Not Here"
When he was here my arms were full but never too heavy to bear him… never too tired to hold him.

He was my life, my joy and my pain Yet always he was the sun through my rain.

Coming to me when I needed a hug… When loving "too much" was to him, never enough; In all the world who would have thought so much joy--- Could've come from one four-legged, furry boy?

Year after year time passed and we grew; As long as he was with me I always knew… He'd be here forever with me, but you see? He's not here. He's not here.

Now this house is silent and throughout all these tears… Who will ever comfort me? Where is he? He's not here! I try and I try to be strong yet I cry! When will it ever end?
Can my heart ever mend?

I'll never again feel his beating heart and smell his sweet scent against my chest--- And no more of his kissing away my tears without rest.

I can never look upon his gentle, dark eyes, but just stare at myself in the mirror… And realize…
He's not here.

West Highland White Terrier (Westie)

To think of life without pets!, For me, I just can’t imagine not having or experiencing the joy and love I have received from my pets,
even if for a short while, it is a gift of love that shall last a life time.

Murphy, SR. and I experienced numerous obstacles in our life,
yet we jumped every hurdle "together".
There were many challenges, more than one would believe they could ever over come,  but it has been by the grace of God
and the gift of love and loyalty from my darling Murphy, Sr.
that we survived them all.
Inner strength comes in many forms, from many places,
I found this strength largely in part from my precious Murphy, SR.

In the beginning, Murphy, SR.'s life did not look bright,
for as a small, young puppy he had been abused,
but then we were brought together and right away we knew
we were going to share our lives happily with one another.

I needed him and he needed me.

There were those unspoken words
of urgency when I first met Murphy, SR. in the way he held onto me
that led me to believe he would forever be my loyal companion
and I would be his salvation,
the one person that would love and adore him,
and treat him as he deserved, with kindness, gentleness
and most of all with love.
Murphy, SR. was a true survivor, but for as strong as he was,
he could not find the strength to fight the battle he had facing him
and in the end, we lost our dear and precious little Murphy, SR.
I will always remember him with love
and thank him for the wonderful memories he gave me.
He was the ultimate lap dog, full of energy, enthusiasm
and child-like mischief.
I miss him so much.

Rescued Fawn

We found this fawn freshly born as his mother lay dying from his birthing and we could only save him. We named him Tinker and took him home. He became a treasured member of the family. He was the cutest little thing, with an adorable, loving nature. He would fuss if you took too long to prepare his dinner, bound around you in circles with exuberance and nuzzle the backs of your knees. He was all legs and reminded me of a newborn colt. He was quite vocal, always bleating like a lamb.

Tinker stole our hearts completely. That first year, he grew by leaps and bounds until he needed the freedom of the outdoors.

We had 40 acres of woodlands, perfect for his playground. He stayed with us by choice, visiting with us daily. We would call him and he would come crashing out of the woods in a full gallop only to come to a screeching halt right at our feet.

He would slobber his drippy muzzle upside our faces, snort a few times, and then he was off again. He began to sprout antlers. Then one day he didn't come when we called him. We never saw Tinker again, and we were crushed.

We miss him terribly.
We didn't want to speculate on why he didn't come home, We just chose to believe that it was time he went off into the world happy and well loved.

Rabbit

Cuddly, loving and playful, our Lil'Rabbitté was a such a joy. Any time I wondered where she was, all I'd have to do was look under the sofa, she would be there playing with her toys or just taking a nap. It was a real surprise to find that Lil'Rabbitté had been litter trained before she came to live with us. She was allowed full reign to go where ever she wanted in our home and loved to be held and cuddled. My fondest memories are when she would snuggle in my robe in the evening before bedtime and when my moms little Chihuahua would come for a visit, the two of them would play chase, running around like playful children.

Lil'Rabbitté was with us only a few years
when she developed uterine cancer.
