We brought Hopey Socks home soon after my Cocker Spaniel,
Buckwheat died. Hopey fills my life with laughter, joy and a
lot of love and occasionally chaos! Hopey is very
independent, self assured and stubborn! His greatest
pleasure is playing ball and I have never been able to
refuse him especially when he continues to drop it on my
feet when I'm trying to get some work done, that's where his
stubbornness comes in, he is so persistent in getting what
he wants, when he wants it!
I love this little fellow to pieces
and he knows it! |

Our Little Princess, JayLing |
|
JayLing is the half sister to our
Hopey Socks, she's sweet, loveable, energetic and cuddly.
She loves to lay in my lap and cuddle but she doesn't like loud noises or squeaky toys. She loves
to run and play with Hopey Socks grabbing him by the ears
and tail
and playing tug-of-war with their toys.
She is also daddy's little girl and has my husband
wrapped
around her little paws.

On the day before
I left NC to go home, I went to the Petsmart Adopt a Dog day to get
some food for a friend's dogs, and when I left, this dog grabbed the
back of my jeans and said, 'Get me out of here~'. It was Tutti. I
couldn't leave without her, and she was due to be put down that next
week, if no one wanted her. She is a typical NC Ditch Dog, a dog with an
old soul, that is the breed of many, found in ditches where people throw
them. She had been in a cage at the ASPCA for almost a year. She will be
2 in May, and I just enjoy her so much. She's very active and loves dogs
and cats, and horses. She loves to model jewelry, and she loves to go on
trips in the truck. She smiles at all the truckers. Once she even raised
her paw to one. I almost ran off the road....She jumps over small logs
and up and down my mounting block in the yard that I use to get on my
horse, and will fetch endlessly all her toys.

Chanel was born
March 4, 2008. I brought her home from the breeder at eight weeks. Little did I
know the trials and tribulations of owning a puppy and going through the
training but every day she grows more into a little lady. I've taken
photos of her from arrival to her current 8 months and it is a delight to share them with you.
My favorite is the day she helped me plant
roses. Look at the dirt on her mouth. She's a character and I would be
totally lost without sharing my life with her. I think Gene Hill said
best how I feel in the paragraph below:
"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears
that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into
the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for
being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail
at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without
taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along
to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am
angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded.
When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him,
I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty
itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a
secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding
where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human
hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark
and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever...
wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have.
He is just my dog." - Gene Hill |

Beans is a
rescue cat that we have given 12/15/2005 as her birthday. She fears
no man or beast! She baits several of our dogs and then swats the
daylights out of them. Beans writes several letters to a group of
other cats and their humans. She catches mice outside and kindly
brings them in the house alive and turns them loose. She loves my
husband but only tolerates me. |

We were lucky
to find Sammy at a local animal shelter as he was being turned in by
his previous owner. He looked so pitiful, was dirty and had lots of
problems, mostly caused from untreated allergies. You can see that
he's much healthier now and totally spoiled. As long as you take him
with you, he's a happy guy. He loves going for rides in the car or
out in the woods in our 4 wheeler. He loves snow, eats it too. You
can see a bit of the snow on his face in the close up view. |

Flitter's nickname
is The Little Bopper for her habit of just smacking any other cat who
dares to be sleeping where she wants to be. Such a Calico!
Flitter was born in 1997. When I saw her, all alone and tiny in a
cardboard box, it was love at first sight. A typical Calico, requires
everything around her be on her specific terms.....And gets it. |

Malkie is a 19
year old black kitty and is an outside cat only because he grew up in a
trailer park where he was fed, but never allowed inside. Now he refuses
to come in. At 16 he was going to be euthanized "Because we are
moving and he isn't our cat" said the people who had fed him for 15
years!
I dread when we lose him, but hopefully he will be with us a few more
years. He's a special gentleman. |

I rescued Butterscotch from
the Park where she had learned to survive,
She is now my guard cat and
roars like a lion if anyone gets too close to me. In the mornings when
she wakes up and I am at the computer; she comes in and puts her head
against my leg
and then she will wrap her
paws around my leg and sit
like that until I get up. |
