2006, Jonette Jewelry Company, (J.J.) closed it's doors
after 69 years of production making their signed JJ pins!
JJ is a registered trademark that stands for "Jonette
Jewelry Company". Jonette Jewelry is a family-owned business
& has been making collectible costume jewelry for over 60
years. They were founded by Abraham Lisker in East
Providence, Rhode Island, & originally were called the
"Providence Jewelry Company". They then changed their name
to "Lisker & Lisker" when his brother Nathan joined them in
the business. When World War II started they stopped production. They then began using the name "Jonette Jewelry"
after the war was over, the name came from their parents
names,"John" & "Etta".
In 1970, they started using the copyright "JJ" stamp on all
pieces made. In 1986 they registered the popular Artifacts
mark, they also have a pewter line of western animals with
the "Santa Fe" mark.
Their pieces were only
manufactured for a certain period of time, and after that,
they became very collectible items!
